St. Charles purchased 2200 E. Colfax in 2018 as a joint venture with Choice Market, which, at the time, was a ‘disruptive’ retail startup forging a new kind of convenience store by merging traditional convenience with local produce, groceries, fresh meals, and everyday necessities. The property, which had been occupied by a restaurant for a decade prior, underwent a substantial interior and exterior renovation with major landscaping upgrades. This Choice Market location is offers traditional and alternative energy fueling stations and provides a meaningful, neighborhood serving use that offers healthy food options in an area with a prevalence of fast-food and convenience stores. The project marks one of several of St. Charles’ revitalization efforts with local entrepreneurs.
